How does Williamson use language to create his characters? (Look at and use the colloquialisms, slang, swearing and sexist language).

The way Williamson uses language to create his characters is when he influences many stereotypical roles to the characters. The dialogue between all the characters has different aspects such as slang from the swearing and made-up words. To the colloquial language from Kate whom was the more sophisticated person. Williamson added many offensive languages, for example the sexist views he made between the superiority of males to the females. As well there were some racist views: like Kenny making fun of Wogs and them being Removalist being shifty when it comes to ripping people off.

Are all the characters stereotypes?

All the characters in The Removalist are stereotypes all having different roles making themselves different to each other. Kenny is stereotyped by David Williamson as the true Australian person. Kate is stereotyped as the well-mannered and highly sophisticated character. Fiona stereotyped as the troubled or in some cases the damsel in distress, because she asked the police for help on her husband’s beatings. The two cops of Simmonds and Ross are the corrupt authority, as Simmonds tends to be more corrupt throughout the plot; Ross turns corrupt by the influence Simmonds made to him. And finally the Removalist was the character whom didn’t have a care in the world, and only wanted to get his job done which was removing the furniture, he’s character was like the comedy relief role which made the story a little more hilarious and pull away from being serious.

Why has Williamson created the characters he has in The Removalists?

The reason why Williamson has created the characters in the Removalist is he wanted to show readers the different themes, on which affect the Australian society, which are:

>Masculinity of the Australian society

>Femininity and stereotypical views of women

He wanted the audience to know that the Australian society isn’t as perfect as many other people would feel it is. It keeps the audience wondering whether or not the characters from the Removalist are similar to our daily life characters.

On the events of the death of Mr. Kenny Carter, I was not responsible for all the damages which of occurred in Carter’s death, and I put all the blame upon the man who was in charge of the entire case, and that was Sergeant Simmonds. I wasn’t the person pulling out the orders in the matters of Ms Carter’s case of abuse. Simmonds whom also abused Mr. Carter during the time of his arrest. My abuse towards Mr. Carter was all upon defense, as Mr. Carter had provoked me and put me towards the point where I had self-defend myself. Sergeant Simmonds physically abused Mr. Carter with the satisfaction knowing he had the higher power. Sergeant Simmonds abused his power of authority and proved towards the victim and he’s witnesses that he overridden his power of being officer of the law, I Neville Ross, pull all my defense in blaming Sergeant Simmonds for the murder of Mr. Kenny Carter.

Information:

Commander-in-chief of the Trojan forces and their allies. Hector was the eldest son of Priam and Hecuba. He was Troy’s greatest warrior. Hector was the brother of Paris, Helenus and Cassandra. He married Andromache, the daughter of Eëtion (Eetion), king of Thebes. Hector was the father of Astyanax (Scamandrius).

In the last year of war, with withdrawal of Achilles from battle because of his quarrel with Agamemnon, Hector’s prowess in battle rose to great height, inspired by the gods, Zeus and Apollo. He challenged the Greeks to fight him in single combat. Many heroes volunteered, including Diomedes and Odysseus, but drawing lots, Ajax won the right to fight Hector. In a single combat against Ajax, he fought to a draw. Although, he was the best warrior on the Trojan sides, Ajax and Diomedes had bested him in their few meetings. The height of his heroism happened when he smashed the gates of the Greek field fortification around the camp. The second climax of his career was when he set one of the Greek ships on fire.

His rash bravery and over-confidence often clouded his judgement. Twice he didn’t listen to the wise counsel from his brave friend, Polydamas, with disastrous results. Polydamas advised him to leave the horses behind, when they breached the Greek gate; he did not listened. After the Hector fired one of the ships, Patroclus in Achilles’ armour brought reinforcement, which routed the Trojans and drove them back outside the Greek camp. Many of the Trojans trying to escape drove their chariots through the gate. In their hasty retreat they crashed into one another. Twenty-two Trojans died at the gates.

After the death of Achilles’ companion, Patroclus, Polydamas advised Hector that the Trojans should not face the Greek forces in battle, with Achilles returning to battlefield. He also advised the commander not to faced Achilles in combat. Over-confident of his mixed successes from the previous day he ignored Polydamas’ counsels. Many Trojan leaders fell to the vengeful Achilles that day and the Trojans were driven back to the city. Achilles later killed Hector in single combat.

Zeus preserved his body with ambrosia, to prevent decay and damage to his body, despite Achilles’ attempt to drag his body behind his chariot. His aged father, Priam ransomed his body, for the funeral. The Iliad ended with a tribute for the bravery of Hector at the funeral.

After the fall of Troy, the Greeks murdered his son Astyanax, while his wife (Andromache) became concubine of his killer’s son, Neoptolemus. Neoptolemus killed his father, King Priam, during the fall of Troy.

When Neoptolemus married Hermione, daughter of Helen and Menelaüs, he set Andromache and Helenus freed, and allowed the two to marry.
